Steve, if the servers lose the connection to the FactoryTalk directory, they each will use their own local cached information. These are the files that exist in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Rockwell\RNAClient and below. Hope that answers the question. ##HL40

If you already have the report in a web page, you can embed the Microsoft WebBrowser ActiveX control in your graphics. No separate Explorer window is necessary. For FTView SE, see http://rockwellautoation.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/rockwellautomation.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=55526 ...

A better solution is to upgrade to RSView32 v7.5, which does support multiprocessors. ##HL41

Here's something to try: 1. Purge your existing SQL data. I'd also delete the .DLG and .DNS files for your datalog model. DL model can't be running when you do this. 2. Open the datalog model in Studio 3. Remove the string tags and save the model; 4. Re-open the model, add the previously ...

Hi George, Is this still an issue for you? If so, can you explain what you mean by "clients"? If this is RSView32 Active Display (RAD), then all you should need to do to see the graphics is create them on the server. Something tells me this is not what you mean. If you mean you have client RSView32 ...

Wak, unless you are still running SE v3.0, you should not be experiencing the issue described in tech note 27160. Also, the operating system is not really the issue here. One thing to verify is that you are using HMI tags. If you are trying to use direct reference tags with a Label, there is no description ...

If you are using an FTAE server, how about the "In Alarm" tag? That will be 1 when the alarm state is in alarm and 0 when it is not. Would that do what you need? ##HL40

How about a Text object containing the version informaiton? You can right-click on it in the editor, choose "Property Panel" and then set the "Visible" property to "False". ##HL41

I remember some years ago I ran into something similar. I don't remember what version of FactoryTalk View it was, but there was a patch (in FactoryTalk Services Platform, I think) that took care of this. If you can't upgrade to a newer version, I'd suggest the latest v5.0 patch rollup. ##HL40

I don't see any reason why this should cause you any trouble. Maybe if you wre trying to animate 10,000 objects or something way out like that, but that expression isn't going to bog down the derived tag at all. ##HL40

Not sure, but you might want to consider using a newer version of RSLinx Enterprise. Version 5.21 has a completely new communication engine and might not encounter this problem. ##HL40

I would have bet that the Application Documentor would have found those addresses. It never hurts to delete the cache files - in your HMI project directory, delete the CACHE folder and TAG\*.CAC (none of the other files in that folder). If nothing else works, maybe remove all the screens (except ...

I haven't seen this one myself, but I found a few possibilities in the knowledgebase: 1. Make sure all ActiveX controls used in your graphics (if any) are registered (tech note 50805) 2. Make sure none of your project components (i.e. Graphics, macros, etc) have a trailing space (tech note ...

I haven't tried this, but I suspect that if you go into the properties for the RSLinx Enterprise data server, on the "Alarms and Events" tab you should be able to uncheck "Enable History". Once you've applied the change, I would think that Alarms and Events would let go of the database, since it no longer ...

Not to give you a flip answer, but that is a pretty open-ended question. A good starting place would be the RSView32 Users Manual, which you can access under the help menu in the Online Books section. If you have some specific questions, maybe someone can help you or suggest some good tech notes. ...

RSView32 has system tags that would contain these values, but I don't think there is anything like that in SE. There are diagnostic tags, but none for data quality. However, there is a COM_ERR(tagname) function that will return a 1 if there is an error and 0 if data is OK. Would that do what you need? ...

I tried inserting the Microsoft Date and Time Picker on my SE system and got the error "Failed to create control. License information for this component was not found". I've run into this error before and it means that the ActiveX control requires a Microsoft license and didn't find one. Now you could ...

Depending on what you want to do, you could create your own input graphic, similar to the one in the RSView32 libraries called "Computers - Keyboard". Next, you could create a numeric display on one screen that has a Touch animation configured something like this: Display MyNumericInputScreen ...

You can execute any SE command in VBA using the ExecuteCommand statement. So if you wanted to run DatalogRenameFilee command, it would be: ExecuteCommand "DatalogRenameFile MyDatalog LogFileIDString" ##HL40

Hello Yaridia, I think you could do that with the Event Detector: Expresion: TriggerBit Action: DatalogRenameFile I haven't tried it myself, but I think it would work. If you want to make a variable, use the event to run a macro and pass it a string tag containing the ...
