I think was Jeremy is trying to say is effectively bringing to Ladder and ST what exists in FBD diagrams already. In an FBD diagram, the example shown by Jeremy would have the three conditions (dough_good, sugar_good and syrup_good) into an AND block and the output of the AND block into the Inp_PermOK ...

The real limitation is not being able to edit or download a single changed AOI into the processor (which is inexcusable when most of Rockwell's competition does so for decades now). As the saying goes, with great power comes great responsibility. When I changed Function Blocks online, it either was ...

Although I'd like to see the namespace addition, the justification to do it so that we could get around a crazy limitation in the Logix platform doesn't stick. Would you have namespaces for each revision of your AOI every time you need to change it? you'd end up having myAOInamespace_V1::myAOI, ...

I think you misunderstood me. Rockwell is a systems integrator as well as manufacturing industrial automation equipment. The competitors I speak of aren't Siemens or Mitsubishi... it's the myriad of different systems integrators out there that take Rockwell devices and create solutions. If Rockwell ...

@Jeremy Rogers, Because there are different branches within Rockwell, the automation kit manufacturer and the systems integrator. The systems integrator branch has no interest in providing tools that allow their competitors to be faster (i.e. cheaper) than Rockwell at integrating a control system. ...

Hi Chris, This is certainly most welcome and I'll take full advantage of it. You should get an email today or tomorrow with what I'm trying to achieve. ------------------------------ Carlos Cardoso ------------------------------

Glad you overcame your issues with them. I'm not so convinced still. It's always in the implementation... some ideas are great, but then the implementation is terribly poor and it undermines the idea and work around it as well as being extremely frustrating for the users. One simple example is the ...

So ACM is now on its deathbed? This is my issue with Rockwell, no one ever seems to sit down, think, make a plan and execute to bring something to the customers. It's always half built (PAX being a great example of it), 15% documented and relies on a myriad of different applications that keep getting ...

Hi James, thanks for the reply. This is what's bugging me since the faceplate I have is a copy of existing and working faceplate (PAI). When I click to "Edit Base object" on both mine and the original faceplate the same file and object open up. The PAI faceplates still work correctly (as all ...

Thanks for this, I'll definitely run through it today. I was sort of thinking something similar in terms of representation where you'd have a For/while block on the left hand side of the rung and the remaining rung to the right of it would be repeated in a cycle matching the conditions. In reality ...

Hello, All of these seem very sensible and I wonder when Rockwell will indeed do something about the obvious limitations of their platform. Just yesterday was doing an AOI where I had to copy/paste the same code 5 times because there isn't a function functionality available to go through these ...

Hello, I have two projects coming where I need to interface two different bits of kit with PlantPAX and would like to make use of the existing graphics for stuff like alarms and configuration. I've started on one already and for the most part is pretty straightforward (copy a faceplate, and adapt ...

Hello, I'm building an application with ACM that will have 1719 modules, but I can't seem to find any ACM library that covers them. Is there such a thing? I imagine this is a requirement for the hardware bus functionality and most of the IO for this project is related to it.

Hello, I've recently managed to get the TechConnect contract and will start using V33 of Logix, but my current setup on an air gapped Engineering WorkStation has a license that only covers up to V32. This license has been upgraded with the TechConnect contract, but obviously the PC doesn't know ...
