Thanks for the response, Mihajlo. I'm using a 20-COMM-E Ethernet communication module on port 5. I was able to find the manual for it and it seems that i need to set up datalink. If i'm understanding it correctly, the datalink will point to the data in/out in parameters 88-103 and the number in the "value" ...

Good morning. I'm working on removing the AB processor, cards, and HMI and replacing them with a click PLC from automationdirect.com. We have 3 SMC Flex drive/soft starts that will remain in use. The whole setup will be connected via ethernet on a local network with no external connections for now. I'm ...

Things have changed, and we're going a different route with this specific project. I'm going to table this one for a while, and start a different thread with my current conundrum. Thanks for your help, i'll get back on here in a while.

Good morning, all. I still haven't been able to get the alarms working properly. I was there yesterday for a bit and tried the alarm identifier option again with the same result. I'll post the validation results. I'll also post pics of the way i currently have the alarms set up so see if anything jumps ...

I have everything set up like that now, with the exception of the alarm identifier. I tried that last week and got errors when i tried to create the runtime file. It's possible that i had something else changed that was causing issues, but i'll give it a try as soon as i can. Unfortunately, it may be ...

Lol the alarms are so much easier to set up on a click plc with a maple HMI. Yes, I believe the alarm window will pop up when something alarms. I'm not at work today, but i'll try this again tomorrow. Unfortunately it's still in the technological black hole. Thanks for your help!

Also, could someone plain-english this for me? I don't know what it's talking about "numeric tag" and the "tip" rambles so much it's useless to me.

Ryan, i've got the triggers and the messages set up, and i have the banner on the "alarm" display page. Is that as far as i need to take it? There's a connections option in the alarm banner properties, do i need to do anything with that or will the message automatically display in the banner window when ...

Good morning! I have not seen the B3, T4 addresses. I have F8, F9, and N10, N11's. I finally got it talking yesterday. With no connection to the processor or HMI, i deleted the communication path in the design and run time tabs, and removed the shortcut. Then named a new shortcut, manually entered ...

Shane, are there not typically the N... in RSLogix5000? It's entirely possible that this is converted from something else, but it wasn't by me. I've only been here for a couple years, but it's been this way in my time here. I think i would be swapping this type of headache for another, working ...

Shane, thank you for the plain english explanation. I'm not currently connected to the controller or HMI, but i've deleted the shortcut, and the design and runtime paths and added the runtime path back into it. Unfortunately the location i'm working in is a black hole as far as communications to the ...

Good morning, all! I was finally able to test the application on the computer and it works fine. The problem comes to the HMI. The data still shows asterisks, and any interaction with the screen buttons gets the following error: "[the tags] unresolved in the processor on route compactlogix in slot 0..." ...

Thanks for the details, Ryan. I've tried testing the application as you showed and it never does load. It says that it's creating the runtime application but never does run the application. I don't get any error messages, it just doesn't finish. As to the HMI tags, i've been using the tag browser ...

Thanks to this community, i have made some progress! I have been selecting the "replace communications" option when downloading to the terminal. However i haven't gotten anything to read at all. Is there a way to test it in Ft View studio while connected to the PLC so that the computer acts as ...

Good morning, everyone. Thank you for the responses. I was able to load my offline tag file as suggested and i believe i got the shortcut path properly designated. The processor showed up in the design tab, i then copied the design to the runtime tab. However, i'm still getting asterisk and errors when ...
