Chip, it is a server-side issue as you thought. It doesn't always clear up when you change browsers, though. My own testing shows that it seems to happen more when I set the Document Types filter to Articles (KB answer/technotes) only, which is how I usually search while testing the KB operation. The ...

@SWANSON, we are sorry about that. We were trying to change the domain yesterday to align with our other sites, and there was a problem, so we rolled it back. Unfortunately, browsers cache some things for efficient operation, which isn't helpful in situations like this. Please clear your browser's cache ...

The latest demo kits around my office are from Underwater Kinetics - http://www.uwkinetics.com. Other companies make similar stuff. I have SKB cases (http://www.skbcases.com) for some of my musical gear, and they make military/industrial cases, too. ##HL38

Spike, can you please forward the email to me by PM? I would like to make sure that the process is working correctly. This doesn't sound correct. Kurt ##HL62

Wow. This takes me back. Looks like the manuals aren't online any more. Here is the 6200-PLC3 software user manual. I'll post the other one next. Long ago in a galaxy far, far away, we could all do this stuff in our sleep. Seems like just yesterday... Good luck. ##HL39

The SIL2 Manual says that it's recommended practice to wire TWO transmitters from the same process variable because IEC 61511 requires 2 transmitters for meeting SIL 2. If you have a single transmitter that is SIL 2 certified, you could wire the sensor to two modules and inputs. You have to use ...

Medaadi, what are you trying to accomplish that makes you ask? We obviously designed the processors and other system components to prevent this, or at least make it REALLY hard and annoying. If you describe the application, maybe we can suggest a better way to accomplish your real goal. ...

Nascar100, your distributor should be able to get you a list of all the software registered to your plant. We keep pretty good records of that. If you don't know your distributor, use our distributor locator to find them. ##HL62

Trank, I've been working with RSLogix 5000 since before it was released. I've never seen a definition of what ACD stands for, if indeed it stands for anything at all. One thought - before release, ControlLogix was called the "Automation Controller" or "AC" for short. Maybe it's "AC Document", ...

On the other hand, even something as simple as one of our new PanelView Component displays will allow you to read a counter register from our processors, and they have built-in Ethernet capability. If you maintain a production count in a register somewhere in a processor, this can be a cheap ...

Sorry if it seems like I'm a nay-sayer, but I think I should point out that we (Rockwell Automation) do not currently support virtual PCs for production. You can see that in answer 30209: "There is currently no support for virtualization in production environments. However, Rockwell ...

I don't have anything to add technically, but I passed this info on to the product managers. There are a lot of variations on the requests-for-security-enhancements theme that have come in over the years, and no two are alike, so it's really hard to develop the *right* thing. ##HL38

Other thoughts: Floppy disk drives are on the way out. The PC manufacturers' roadmaps (we get briefings from Dell) show them going away or gone in various product lines. Like VHS. My wife insists on keeping old VHS tapes. We only have one device still playing them well. We've moved the ...

RSView (FactoryTalk View, now) Studio version 5 (a.k.a. CPR 9) supports FactoryTalk Activation, and you can use the USB dongle 9509-USBDONG. I noticed that we don't recommend using USB dongles on VersaView (http://rockwellautomation.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/rockwellautomation.cfg/php/enduser/st ...

We appreciate your desire to help, but please remember that these boards are intended for the discussion of Rockwell Automation products. We have a line of inductive prox sensors that are designed for this kind of application. Go to the catalog, and look at the 871Z and 871ZC weld field immune ...

Rose, We have some developer resources online that can help - check out the link to How To Guides. There is other info on Ethernet/IP on the networks site, but I think the developer site is your best bet. There may be more on the ODVA website, too. ##HL39
