Same issue observed in V15.

Yea I noticed that while moving one window on top of the other CPU usage is also spiking. But it's only temporary and you can't operate the command buttons anyway while dragging since you normally only have one mouse. So this is somewhat tolerable (though not ideal). A bigger problem is, a stationary ...

Recently updated a big FTVSE V13 application to V14 and noticed a big performance issue - after opening specific faceplates, the CPU usage tops out making the whole client significantly less responsive, to the point that button clicks don't register. What's weird is the object right next to it can have ...

V14 introduced no additional rules that would stop your system from operating. However it is quite a bit more demanding because of the new graphics engine. Depending on displays complexity you can experience a significant performance hit. Very noticeable on VM with no GPU passthrough

OK so if I had V32 or V31 then no luck as they have no releases in 2023 (after 1756-IF16H transitioned to Series B)? Note that 1756-IF8I for example does have the AOP available on its download page, despite being web-based as stated in InstallNotes_ENU.rtf found inside the zip. Which also claims ...

Studio 36 lets me configure a 1756-IF16H module as being Series B but the customer only has Studio 35 where 1756-IF16H can only be configured as Series A. My understanding is additional AOPs can be installed on top of Studio 35 to support newer modules. But compatibility.rockwellautomation.com > Downloads ...

Apparently DB vendors and end-user IT departments did a bad job because DataLogPro handles DB redundancy out of the box with zero configuration. See VIEWSE-UM006Q-EN, last sentence on page 371. Why release that if you have the good old DataLog with ODBC data source? Hope similar functionality will ...

I really like the new feature of FTVSE14, DataLogPro, because when ran on redundant pair of servers, it (or should I say InfluxDB which is the technology behind it) automatically synchronizes databases when one of servers comes online after a failure. Can I achieve the same, but with alarm history? And ...

Okay I got it, the image of a rackmount switch in docs does not literally mean a rackmount switch, but rather a metaphor for distribution-type switch with routing capability. Just like an image of 10-port 5700 does not literally mean a 10-port 5700, but any industrial-grade access switch with: ...

- IO chassis not shown because it will be in a separate network (so, non-converged scenario). - Well good, no switch - no need to worry about it being industrial :) - In this case controllers are within 100m of server room so copper is okay. Even if not, there are certainly more cost-effective media ...

Great info, thanks! I have a related question about these switches: why are they there in the first place? In publications like HIGHAV-RM002, 1756-UM535, or knowledgebase article 463904, redundant chassis connection to network is always shown via these rail-mount Stratix'es, which seems wasteful ...

I don't think there is any documentation from RA, there's nothing to document really. They just give you a way to run scripts. What the script does is outside RA responsibility. Think of it as a slightly improved AppStart command, how much documentation does that one have? To learn more about powershell ...

In v12 there seems to be no FTV-specific functions. You can do whatever works in a separate powershell session (create a file, send an email) and that's it. You can pass tag values as parameters to a script but cannot return a value to indicate result (even success/failure). https://www.youtube.com/ ...

The Datalog service of FactoryTalk View SE can write to a secondary location when the primary location can't be reached. It doesn't however move the data automatically from secondary to primary when it becomes accessible again. There is a DatalogMergeToPrimary command but it has to be run explicitly. ...
