Well looks like the 1732E-8IOLM12R IOLink master is compatible down to v20.02 and you can still register the IODD files to it in v20. See below where I have added three sensors to the module: And the tag definition(s) based on the sensors added: Notice that for the non-rockwell device (CH0) ...

Seems reasonable to migrate. I have not looked at the 5032 series yet myself. Though for this particular application Splash has mentioned further down the thread that he currently has an L61 controller, so might not be feasible unless they are also willing to upgrade controller given the 5x80 limitation. ...

I love IOLink for bringing in process data for temperature and pressure sensors; and in some cases even for part present sensor if they choose a distance laser. Then instead of configuring the sensor I can set all of the limits in the PLC so maintenance never has to reconfigure a sensor ever again. The ...

I agree that if you already have sensor and they are not IOLink capable then stick with simple discrete. To me it sounds like three bricks: 1x 1732E-16CFGM12QCR (Handles 16 discrete signals. Each point can be used as either an input or an output) 1x 1732E-IF4M12R (4 analog IN) 1x 1732E-OF4M12R ...

Well, you can find the produced and consumed tags that exist by filtering your controller tags: . Then you could cross reference those tags to find where they are used. ------------------------------ Regards, RM ------------------------------

Unfortunately I know of no tool to convert between languages in this way. Certainly there is not a Rockwell supported one. I suppose it might be possible to create a utility to do that in an L5K file. ------------------------------ Regards, RM ------------------------------

No, really just because it seems simpler and didn't require me to go looking up Message Pathing documentation. :-P I think it could be argued that it is actually less resource intensive than the messaging method as well as the connection already exists rather than opening and closing extra connections ...

Hi Steve, May I suggest that instead of the explicit message(s) you simply modify your Connection Format in the Device Definition to include the Maximum Frequency being sent on the implicit I/O? ------------------------------ Regards, RM ------------------------------
