Thanks for the suggestion. The customer is actually running a thinmanager setup, I've never thought of it being able to deploy content to a tablet. Is there a Rockwell/Thinmanager manual for this? Since the client file doesn't scale well, I'm assuming the tablet would need to be 1920x1080 with a 16:9 ...

He most likely was referencing IEC 61850 protocol, which is common in power and substation applications.

Interesting notes in there, thank you for this. I'm wondering what the solution will be for people that want viewpoint access and details on why something wont start... as in being able to view interlocks for instance. Also, what's the solution for operators that want tablets on the production ...

Currently running V15 FT View SE. May patches applied. Viewpoint appears to be fine in L1, L2, and L3 views. However, faceplate objects for all the PlantPAx stuff is showing nothing. Is this by design, or am I missing something?

The front ethernet gigabit port, definitely not the USB! There are many reasons for this secondary system. Even though the distributed one is served by a redundant server rack, they require an "emergency" system to be able to control some processes in the even network comms are lost, servers ...

My team is conceptualizing a system for a customer that has a unique need. Due to the intrinsic nature of their processes, they are asking to have a secondary FT SE application that has a direct connection to the L8X processor(s) throughout site. In summary: The entire site will be ran off the ...

Thank you for your reply. As far as purposes for this install, I'm looking to build a historian for approximately a couple dozen points. Its a pretty basic use case. I plan on utilizing Grafana within Optix for visualization. Would the local DB instance utilized within Optix be sufficient? ...

It sounds like I need to educate myself more with the embedded influxdb. Do you happen to know which version it is with the latest 1.6.3 download? I find the documentation very lacking for optix compared to all the other factorytalk products. Can you recommend a "getting results guide" for ...

I am doing a small Optix job, which in theory is historizing around a couple dozen points. The customer wants to call up historical data from a couple Rockwell PLC's. I downloaded the latest 1.6.3 Optix install file from the PCDC. My question is, is the Influxdb install that comes along with ...

That's great to know. Are you saying that InfluxDB gets installed along with Optix if i go with the current version?

Thank you very much for your reply! To answer your question(s), the customer has zero experience with historians. All they have requested from us is to be able to log years worth of data for a couple dozen points, it is a small system in conception so a full blown historian for this application (in ...

I have a customer that is requesting we set up a "historian" on a computer running other FactoryTalk applications. I looked at FT Historian as well as other 3rd party options, most of which are more than what is required for this small facility. Basically I'm looking to historize around 50 points for ...

I see what you are saying here. I guess the problem is that customers need a hybrid solution, Rockwell needs to consider making migration to their newer systems achievable without having to do a full rebuild of a FTVSE application. This is a mining customer with operations 24/5/365, which is not out ...

Unfortunately this is something I have to attempt for the customer, as their FT system was conceptualized in 2014 and built off of that. They need some sort of migration path moving forward with their PLC hardware, and this project I am doing for them is an opportunity to get the migration plan figured ...

I am helping a customer with their large distributed SE application using FT View 13. They are currently using plantpax library objects V3.XX, combined with V32 firmware in their L7X controllers. The application is talking to around 50 controllers. I have been tasked with recently doing a project ...

My understanding was that a release candidate will be put on the site once betas have finished. I just noticed this morning that 3 release candidates are on there. What is the point of having 3 release candidates, shouldn't they just all roll up into one?
