Summary: Is the AS7W compatible with PF755 and CIP Motion? I have been supplied several SEW motor gearboxes fitted with AS7W encoders instead of the expected AS7Y, they are to be used with PF755 / UFB-1 and CIP Motion. SEW has told me that the AS7W is a Hyperface encoder. I have had no luck getting ...

If you can ID the documentation of the top of your head I would like to have a look. I would also be interested id what you find for disabling a missing drive. The only way I have found so fare is to move the axis to the ungrouped folder. Inhibiting the module does not do it. ##HL32

Rockwell now say it does work. Must set word length to 25 bit despite it only being 24 bit. Had trouble with the PLC not initialising the drives reliably. Turns out that if one drive cannot be communicated with the other drives will not leave the initialising state. ##HL32

Thanks TJ. I am trying to use a SEW AS7Y encoder (SSI 12 bits per turn, 12 bits turns, gray code +Sin Cos) which is documented as being compatible with the UFB. I am now told that it is not compatible with CIP motion but is compatible with a standalone drive. (No one will tell me if other absolute ...
