Hey everyone, We are upgrading a machine in our facility. It's currently an L62 processor chugging along at about a 35ms scan time. We are putting in a L83 guardlogix. The program runs a combination of ladder logic and SFCs. The L83 drops the scan time to just a couple of ms. When we get the ...

Hey guys, So we are adding a new system in my facility here. The new system is ethernet comms, but communicates with some older stuff via DH+. When we add this new system we begin having issues with the DH+ network. Missing product data, handshakes between belt systems slowing down, etc. It ...

Sorry I should mention it's a Kinetix 5700 system.

I am using Digital input 1 as registration 1. Is there any way that I can turn this input on in the software without any physical hardware for testing purposes or am I stuck . The only tag I see in the axis tag is a DINT for Digital Inputs but I can't find any supporting information on it. A very experienced ...

Sorry I should clarify I mean the STOOutput1 and STOOutput2 tags for the kinetix to satisfy the safeties of the drives over ethernet are both on. Meaning the STOs are NOT active. If I lose those outputs I get an S05 STO fault.

As of yesterday afternoon it was good. I'll be up there later today to continue testing. I'll try and recreate the issue if it doesn't exist. But again, it seemed like toggling the STO outputs allowed the drives to regain control of the motors. Very strange. When the problem was occurring I even tried ...

Cables were good. I have no explanation and could not replicate the issue. A colleague of mine started playing around with it, and all he did was toggle my test bits to cycle the safe torque offs and the drives took control of the motor. I couldn't find anything on the knowledgebase relating to this ...

Hey everyone, I have an issue with a project I'm working on. I have 4 axes I'm running using two dual axis 5700's. MPM motors. I think I have everything hooked up correctly. I'm doing my hookup tests. I turn my motor by hand for the feedback test and the marker test and they pass. My motor and feedback ...

I wish I could put two best answers on a thread. Thanks that worked like a charm.

Thanks for the answer that's great. I'm curious are their other issues with this version of the library? I followed the instructions in the videos section to bring the data into FactoryTalk ME. Below is a picture of what the global objects look like after importing them. I've looked ...

Hey guys, I've recently simplified a machine network at our facility by implementing a DLR of 6 stratix 5700 switches. The topology off of each of these switches is a star topology. Other than the obvious resiliency benefits the stratix switches provide, we also were hoping to utilize the ...

Hey thanks for the replies everyone. I've been acting as a middle man here. My colleague has informed me the issue was with the display type being set to Replace. He had to set it to on top. Thanks for getting us in the right direction. Mark

Hey everyone, I have a strange issue with a panelview in our facility. Apparently it has always been an issue since install about a year ago. It's not taking us to our knees so there have been other priorities. I've dug through the knowledgebase but haven't really had much luck. The scenario ...

Looking into our issue this seems to be the cause. Interesting. I'm curious how someone gets around this in a situation with a lot of obsolescence. We have a good mix of DH and ethernet in our facility. One of our initiatives is converting these PLC5's to logix and getting them over to ethernet. But ...

Seems to be the PLC5's over data highway. The chassis this card is in is quite loaded. There are 3 1756-L73s interacting with our level 2 systems as well as 4 other data highway networks. None of the other networks on the chassis have issues though. We were having a lot of issues with this chassis. These ...

Hey everyone, We've been fighting with a networking issue here in our facility for some time. Our machine level networks are a mix of ethernet and DHRIO. We are able to connect wireless through our ethernet network drilling down to these PLC5 processors via DHRIO cards. We have one particular ...

So I am upgrading a 1250 to a panelview 5510. I'm almost there as far as the commissioning is concerned I'm just running into a little snag regarding the alarms. We are running an L81 with v34 and are using the Alarm Manager to handle our faults. My issue here though is that the old 1250 would write ...

Those articles and manuals had the information I was looking for thank you. As for the reasoning behind not starting from scratch is mainly available capital. In order to start converting these old obsolete systems in our facility it's easier to get the capital to do that if we piece meal ...
