I added a transparent style on the default style sheet under Input box styles and then I was able to select that as an option on the spin box Appearance ...

Is this still an issue with v1.7.4? I am trying to create a spinbox with a transparent background and not sure if I'm adjusting the styling incorrectly or if it just doesn't work.
