Adam, Thanks for the honesty. We are a small integrator and have used VMs extensively to help. It just blows my mind these days having this many processes on a dev machine running when we are not actually using any of the software. Everyone preaches (and should with connectivity and AI capabilities ...

I've been trying to keep the number of processes (and potential data leaks) to a minimum on my PC. It is a monumental task these days. Does Rockwell publish a list of process that run in the background even when not using their software? Below are some I've found tied to RA that are running even though ...

Here is the manual with the scaling. Page 109. https://literature.rockwellautomation.com/idc/groups/literature/documents/um/1769-um002_-en-p.pdf

I'm assuming this is a 1769-OF8C? If so, make sure the switch on the side of the card is set to internal power (or make sure you have an external power supply connected). In your screenshot, it looks like you have the Scale block set to output 4-20 with an input of 0-100. Scaled for PID is 0-16383 I ...

Splash, We used Modbus gateways for years as well. After lots of testing, we switched to using the Modbus AOIs a couple of years ago and have them in a large number of production systems now. The only issue I've found is no native support for non-cyclical messages in the version (2.03.x) we are using. ...

We've used the Cognex Dataman 8700 series, Ethernet/IP base with Bluetooth to the hand held. Definitely not the cheapest, but a good industrial scanner.

Stefano, It was Dennis Wylie who I asked the question about the future of the 5480 in session IE56 and got that answer from. After that's when I came and found you. I didn't mean to imply it was you that gave me that info. Glad to see you are active on the forums. BTW, we got our Edge Compute ...

I should have specified, it is the Embedded Edge Compute Module, 1756-CMEE1Y1. The compute module has been out there for a while. The new one runs FTOptix not specifically FTHME. It is interesting to me that the "RA staff" posted looking at the 5480. Maybe they know something we don't about the 5480's ...

I'd be cautious using the 5480. I asked the product manager for it at Automation Fair and he recommended not using the 5480 for any new development. Rockwell released the "Compute" module for CLX recently with the CompactLogix to follow. He said that was the future, not the 5480. Of course, no release ...

You need Logix Echo which isn't included with the Rockwell Toolkit. It has to be purchased separately and is pricy! We just throw an L8x in a test rack. If you have the processor available, I'd suggest doing that. ------------------------------ Bryan Burris ------------------------------

Rockwell did a really good job with the Modbus AOI's. I've used Prosoft in the past and they worked well too. That said, why waste the rack space and have the additional cost of the Prosoft Module when the AOIs work? I can't remember if the Prosoft module would allow explicit messaging. The AOIs won't ...

That was the link I posted above. Pretty generic statement. It would be nice for them to have an honest open discussion on what they are doing about this and what the plans are to prevent it in the future. It would be nice to see them bring some of the manufacturing back to the US. The lead time sheet ...

Are you guys getting any real news on why or when things will improve? Our local distributor blames it all on Rockwell, which is fine, but it would be very nice if Rockwell would actually do a webinar or some official communication about the situation. It would be something we could share with our customers ...

We are a small integrator and the supply chain is killing us. I'm curious what the other small integrators are doing? Rockwell and their distributors can't give us dates and when they do, they almost always slip. We just ordered a bunch of ControlLogix parts and all the analog modules are Feb. 2023. ...

I was told the 9300-ENA modules have been discontinued after having 11 on order for 2 months. Our AB rep can't tell us what the replacement is besides the 1783-NAT which I'm being told is 1900 units in the hole. Anyone got other NAT devices they have used and liked? We really like the ENA's for their ...

So where is the KeepConnectionOpen used? I thought it was a parameter of the AOI, but I don't see it anywhere in the AOI. Am I missing something elsewhere that actually keeps the connection open? ------------------------------ Bryan Burris ------------------------------

That is close to what I came up with in our testing. I didn't use the .Sts_Connected and didn't set KeepConnectionOpen. Do you see any issues with not using the KeepConnectionOpen? I know it is a bit more overhead setting up and tearing the socket down. Thanks, Bryan ------------------------------ ...

Thanks for creating the Modbus AOIs. I've used the "old" code before and see this as an improvement! Do you have a suggestion on the best way to implement "explicit" messaging using the Modbus TCP Client? What I'm after is a way to write data only once per successful transfer. For example, when a ...
