Update - A rescan revealed patch did not deploy. Logs show no reason for install failure other than socket termination. RDP into agent and found free space below 6GB which means patch roll up could not be deployed. Freeing up space and patches deploy.

That's what was strange. RSlinx Data Monitor showed the internal clock counting seconds just fine. When RSLogix failed to connect I checked it through RSlinx first.
