In this case I'm using an onscreen button to refresh the timestamp display. You could also connect that NetLogic to execute every time the DINT[7] changes. Doing that essentially puts the DINT[7] array tag "on scan" all the time. Or you could execute that code example on an event, or when a BOOL changes ...

I overlooked something fairly obvious: C# has a function that will create a DateTime when you give it six integers representing the Date (year, month, day) and the Time (Hour, Minute, Second). I was able to accomplish this by creating a runtime NetLogic and executing it with an onscreen button. I am ...

Let's talk this through, because when timekeeping comes up I get pretty squirrely. It is very common for ControlLogix users to make a UDT called DateTime as a way to store a copy of the controller's WallClockTime object's DateTime attribute. That's the seven-DINT array that we've been using since the ...

Thank you, Mr. Dale: I am a little embarrassed that I had not looked in the famously thorough Features Demo 2. One thing I had struggled with was right there: how to configure the Pen X Axis to show the data from several minutes before the time it was printed. That is handled by setting the Time Window ...

I'm not sure what I did differently, but now I no longer get the "error code -1" message for a Report with just one Trend that I copied from a window/panel in the Web Presentation Engine where it works correctly. But the PDF for for the report just plain doesn't show the Trend object. It shows other ...

Thank you both for that encouraging answer ! I will have access to my testbench OptixEdge later tonight, and will post some details and try a simplified Trend, now that I know it's possible. My FTOptix Studio is 1.7.32 and I'll check on the exact firmware in the OptixEdge tonight. Am I correct in ...

I have a project I'm trying to implement to log some data and generate a report showing an interval of that time-series data, using FTOptix 1.7.4 and an OptixEdge Standard device. I bought this hardware based on a comment I saw somewhere that Trends and Charts were added to Reports, and the fact that ...

The simple answer is the practical one: remove or disable the FLEX adapter from the scanlist, cycle power to the 1794-ADN, re-download the 1794-ADN Adapter configuration and then re-download or re-enable the 1747-SDN Scanlist. In my experience, the power cycle is mandatory for at least the 1794-ADN. ...

A "Generic Ethernet Module" object is used to connect to a 3rd party device that functions as an Adapter using the EtherNet/IP protocol. The parameterization is dead-simple: Input, Output, and Configuration Assembly numbers and sizes. In the third party device's configuration, you need to know or configure ...

I have an application where I would like to log the local time when a handful of BOOL tags go from False/True in a CompactLogix, using an Optix application running on an Optix Edge gateway, for use in a FTOptix Report. I've already read the online Help, and downloaded the GitHub example for Data Loggers ...

Go ahead and start it up while running a stopwatch, and note the time it takes for each stage to complete, especially time time after the application starting notice appears. Create a dummy program with no tags connected and just one screen. See how long that takes to start up. My speculation is that ...

Why did you replace the 20-COMM-D ? The most likely explanation is that you didn't re-configure the 20-COMM-D with the appropriate datalinks and connection size, which would result in an Error 77 code on the scanner. Do you have access to any notes or documents or similarly-configured drives so ...

Can you get to the configuration menu screen that describes the main board and daughtercard hardware strings and revisions ? You can get that error if the daughtercard is mis-identifying itself to the main board, even for the four variants of DH485 comms daughtercards. Or if someone "refurbished" ...

If you were asking for Modbus protocol experience, then you should not have specifically asked for DH-485 experience with an RS-485 wireless bridge. If you already knew better, then you should have stated so. -------------------------------------------

Data Highway 485 has some very tight timing requirements for token-passing. While asynchronous protocols like DF1 or Modbus RTU can accept some variation and delays, DH485 cannot. You will not find any successful DH485 over radio applications.

The 1746-IB16 was a very popular 24V sinking DC input module for the SLC-500 modular hardware system. I was one of the last modules to go out of production, presumably because of its high popularity: RA stopped making them at the end of 2021. You can look up the lifecycle status of most RA products: ...

That "CP3" cable is not a DH485 protocol converter. It will support DF1 protocols, or Modbus or ASCI or other protocols that don't use careful timing in their token rotation like DH485 does. It can connect to the Channel 0 port of an SLC-5/03 controller if that port is set up for any protocol except ...

There is a third-party alternative sold by PLCCable.com. While Rockwell Automation does not support that device, it has a very good reputation for compatibility. https://www.plccable.com/allen-bradley-1747-uic-usb-to-dh485-usb-version-1747-pic-slc500/ -------------------------------------------

Do you think that the PanelView used any of the discrete I/O table for addressable memory, or did it just use Block Transfers ? I agree that taking out the Block Transfers and just addressing the PLC-5 Data Tables that they use as their sources and destination is the most straightforward method. Deleting ...

You will find the Optix comms drivers complaining a little about not being able to get extended tag properties from v20 controllers, but it will definitely work. I do most of my testing with 1756-L61 v20. -------------------------------------------
