That "CP3" cable is not a DH485 protocol converter. It will support DF1 protocols, or Modbus or ASCI or other protocols that don't use careful timing in their token rotation like DH485 does. It can connect to the Channel 0 port of an SLC-5/03 controller if that port is set up for any protocol except ...

There is a third-party alternative sold by PLCCable.com. While Rockwell Automation does not support that device, it has a very good reputation for compatibility. https://www.plccable.com/allen-bradley-1747-uic-usb-to-dh485-usb-version-1747-pic-slc500/ -------------------------------------------

Do you think that the PanelView used any of the discrete I/O table for addressable memory, or did it just use Block Transfers ? I agree that taking out the Block Transfers and just addressing the PLC-5 Data Tables that they use as their sources and destination is the most straightforward method. Deleting ...

You will find the Optix comms drivers complaining a little about not being able to get extended tag properties from v20 controllers, but it will definitely work. I do most of my testing with 1756-L61 v20. -------------------------------------------

I realize this post is several weeks old, but I wanted to post a reply. The "trip Status" should already be part of the Input Assembly that is polled by the DeviceNet scanner. The first two 16-bit words in the simplest Instance 131 input assembly contain Device Status 0 and Device Status 1, which are ...

Try adding "/Backplane/0" to the Route field. Even though the Ethernet port is physically built into the 1769-L35E enclosure instead of being a separate slot-mounted device, it is more like a virtual backplane with the controller in Slot 0.

I would start by seeing if RSLinx browsing is the only protocol effected. Have that user try other kinds of connectivity, like good old ICMP PING at the Command prompt, and HTTP to the 1756-ENBT's address in a web browser. Also, try Windows Powershell's test-netconnection command, which allows ...

My understanding is that FTOptix includes embedded instances of SQLite (what they just call "embedded") and InfluxDB that don't require separate installation or management. If you want to use an external InfluxDB server, on the local PC or on a separate machine, you need to install and configure it yourself. ...

I think it's worth asking your customer what their experience is with historians, and how they intend to analyze and store this data. Just logging data for a trend isn't really getting into the compression and analysis features that real industrial historian packages have. Don't expect to use the ...

I realize this post is many weeks old, but I wanted to be sure it got at least a shot at an answer. FTView ME version 7 and higher support up to 1 million records in the internal data log. Previously, the limit was 300,000. If you were logging just one tag, every 1 second, that would run for 11.57 ...

(not-OP again) Thank you for that thoughtful and informative answer. It's especially helpful to get an explanation of what the ComboBox does under the hood and be reminded that there are visibility and sorting features, which makes a simple "which element was selected, numbered from the top" value ...

Describe the terminals in a little more detail. Ideally, post the actual part number. PanelView Plus (2711P) wasn't released until version 3.0, back in 2003 or so. PanelView Standard flatscreen terminals were up to v4.x by the end of their life. I'm only familiar with version 1.x for the PanelView ...

Also: thank you for explaining how the (Item) alias works: it's an alias for the selected element of the ComboBox drop-down, rather than a reference to the ComboBox itself.

I was participating in this discussion on another forum, and I'm going to poke my nose in here. I am not the original poster, just a FTOptix novice. I think that what makes this application unusual is that the desired labels for the ComboBox are in a STRING[x] array tag in a ControlLogix, not in a ...

Okay, great ! That means that your PLC-5/30E is new enough to have the "dual stack" firmware that lets it exchange messages with ControlLogix or other drivers that use CIP to transport PCCC commands. Compatibility with modern OPC-UA servers or devices is more likely. FactoryTalk Linx is likely the ...

How old is your PLC-5/30E ? (Series and Firmware Revision) ? It's not surprising to me that the FactoryTalk Optix driver for SLC/MicroLogix didn't work with a PLC-5. The controller might be old enough that it doesn't support CIP transport of the PCCC command set (only the CSPv4 protocol, aka "legacy ...
