Currently this is the only way to do this via the Logix Designer SDK. -------------------------------------------

Hi Walke, There is nothing wrong with accessing UDTs, but you cannot specify part of the tag using the path, just the whole tag. In your example the tag would just be "Controller/Tags/Tag[@Name='Pump']" What you do with that depends on what you're trying to accomplish: If you want live data, you ...

This isn't a restriction so much as it's just how Ethernet/IP works. 127.0.0.1 is the loopback address and always points to your local machine. So this works because Windows knows where to go and just connects to itself. The help for FT Echo does have a section for IP addresses that explains the ...

OK, if it shows up in FT Linx that's good. Try configuring a single controller in Echo using the default IP address, which is 127.0.0.1 and see if that can download. -------------------------------------------

When you install Echo it should automatically configure FT Linx and a few other things needed to connect all of these apps together. You should have an "EmulateEthernet" entry in FT Linx created for you. If not, it's possible Echo was installed before FT Linx. The easiest fix right now might be to ...

Just to verify: Are you able to open Logix Designer on the same machine you are running your C# application on and download to the controller from there? If that doesn't work then we should get it working first prior to using the SDK to download, as the SDK will use Logix Designer under the hood. ...

As mentioned above please make sure your license is available. You can check by clicking Help->About on the Dashboard. Please make sure whatever PC or VM that is hosting Echo has enough resources. If on a VM try allocating more RAM and CPU cores. You can also try shutting down applications that ...

When you shut down an Echo controller, it must reach a stopping point and save all of its current state to disk before the shutdown can be successful. If it doesn't have time to do this, then the current state and program are lost, and you'll need to redownload and start over. This process can take some ...

Chip, I'm glad to hear your positive feedback using FT Echo! I don't have anything to share with respect to the two suggestions you made (Ethernet module, and supporting past FW), but I have passed these on to the product team. Knowing what our customers are interested in helps us to plan future ...

Chip, thanks for the response. As you discovered, Echo cannot communicate with physical devices either controllers or I/O. This is a limitation of the product as stated in our documentation. I think your only solution using Echo right now is to simulate your whole system using only Echo controllers ...

Hi Chip, Thank you for your feedback about Echo. I'd like to see if I can help you find a solution. Can you provide any more details about what devices you'd like Echo to be able to communicate with? What specific restrictions are you running into?

If you are able to upgrade to FT Echo 3.00.00 we made a change that allows you to specify whatever IP address you want using the dashboard. This was always possible using the API in previous versions, so now it has parity in the dashboard. Note that you'll still have to have at least one controller ...

Hi Carl, Thanks for responding. Unfortunately, at this point, I don't have any information to communicate regarding a breakpoint feature in FT Echo. I will communicate your feedback with the product team.

Hello SKY, To access program tags you want to use a string like "Controller/Programs/Program[@name='programName']/Tags/Tag[@name='tagName']" I spoke with the dev team about this, and they will be adding more documentation around this in a future release. Thanks for the question, and ...

Are you running as a normal Windows user or as Administrator? Are you running the Echo Dashboard with limited privileges? A couple things to check: Verify that you have FactoryTalk Services Platform installed. It should be part of the FactoryTalk Echo installation media. Looking ...

Could you give us a few more details? You mentioned installing Echo on a different computer. Do you have multiple PCs involved here? Where are you downloading from/to and what is installed on each? You may already be aware of this, but just a few notes: in order to use the Echo Dashboard to download, ...

Hi Jhon, You may already be aware of some of this but let me clarify what's going on with the versioning here. The Service API and Controller API versions are independent of each other and also can be independent of the overall Echo product version. The Service API version is tied to the version ...

We will release updated versions of the API along with future versions of the FT Echo product. I don't have any information to share on when the next version will release, but stay tuned to the normal channels (like this forum!) for announcements about future releases.

Hi Jhon, The Controller API does not currently have a single function call to register multiple tags. As I'm sure you know, you can create your own helper function to do this in your own application. Accept an array of tag specifiers, call "RegisterTag" for each, and return the array of handles. ...
