Great collection Blake, thank you for putting this together. Being January, I see we missed the V1.7 release in December, do you have any insight on upcoming release dates? I am most interested in V1.8 and potential that Optix SCADA will be included in that release. ----------------------------- ...

I may be missing something with the new Tag Browser behavior. I have a Global Object that references a program-scoped structure, for example: (::[PLC]Program:My_Program.Axis_07.Some_Tag) Within the Global Object, .Some_Tag is already defined at the object level (e.g. (#4.Some_Tag)), where #4 is intended ...

I am going to setup a lab to work through the Network Distributed concept, but I would appreciate some input. I have a ThinManager pre-production/test environment that was built out as a single VM with ThinManager, View Studio, and the Clients all local to the single VM. We are now ready to move ...

have you recently updated View Studio? Have you recently setup the Clients from Scratch? Is "Auto logout" enabled in the Client configuration through "Factorytalk View Site Edition Client"? -------------------------------------------

What ThinManager version are you using? Doe you have the latest firmware kits for the Terminals installed on the ThinManager server? If you have the latest Firmware kits installed, are the terminals pulling those kits on boot? -------------------------------------------

Looks like ThinManager on a Windows Server environment would be the best option. You would setup one environment and with less than 10 Clients it could in theory run from a single VM. But since you want redundancy (As you should) and failover two VMs on either a single physical host or split across two ...

Are you looking to upgrade an existing environment or are you building something new? If this is existing, then what is the software solution currently in use? Is this intended to remain as separate projects or are you wanting to combine them into a single project? The two options I have knowledge ...

In view studio those are provide through a library called "Symbol Factory", In Optix I think this concept is now covered by "Fiix Library". INFO-RM007B - FTOptix Fiix Libray Object Reference Manual Symbol Factory is a third-party solution that is packaged with View Studio where Fiix I think it ...

You are not going to limit the processes; the interconnectivity of Rockwell's software and the ecosystem it builds is too extensive. That's why it is virtually impossible to containerize the different product suites, something my company has thrown away money trying to do because our IT department doesn't ...

there is nothing wrong with the proposed solution. However, I think it avoids the real problem. Redundant servers should never all shutdown at the same time, if they do then either the building is gone or there is no Battery/power redundancy. Either event, from a disaster recovery perspective, ...

The front "Comms" port is a USB B port, right? Unless you're mounting the HMI in the cabinet door directly across from the PLC in each area, you are going to have distance issues. Throughput speed on USB is not ideal, it really is just a service port for low level service; even in the lab I get the ethernet ...

After that, I had to check something, but this does appear to be related to database issues. I have seen a similar problem posted on Reddit where the SQL lite db was not installed correctly, also with v15 ME. I found this is the knowledge base and it talks about deleting the db and forcing a rebuild. ...

make sure you have the windows updates and patch rollups current. Most of the ME related issues we have seen have been resolved with patches. Are you restoring from an .apa archive or from a .mer? -------------------------------------------

then it would appear that you cannot put anything on top of that object. you will have to put it outside of that object's region. -------------------------------------------
