there is nothing wrong with the proposed solution. However, I think it avoids the real problem. Redundant servers should never all shutdown at the same time, if they do then either the building is gone or there is no Battery/power redundancy. Either event, from a disaster recovery perspective, ...

The front "Comms" port is a USB B port, right? Unless you're mounting the HMI in the cabinet door directly across from the PLC in each area, you are going to have distance issues. Throughput speed on USB is not ideal, it really is just a service port for low level service; even in the lab I get the ethernet ...

After that, I had to check something, but this does appear to be related to database issues. I have seen a similar problem posted on Reddit where the SQL lite db was not installed correctly, also with v15 ME. I found this is the knowledge base and it talks about deleting the db and forcing a rebuild. ...

make sure you have the windows updates and patch rollups current. Most of the ME related issues we have seen have been resolved with patches. Are you restoring from an .apa archive or from a .mer? -------------------------------------------

then it would appear that you cannot put anything on top of that object. you will have to put it outside of that object's region. -------------------------------------------

are you trying to modify the existing Alarm summary grouped object or just trying to place it over the top of that grouped object? is that even a traditional grouped object or just a user control? I have never tried to place anything over it, I wonder if there is maybe an "always on top" function to ...

The order of the Object explorer does not represent the objects layer height or Z height. very annoying, I know. in the design window, select whatever object you want at the back and either right click and select "Send to back" or you can access the tool from the tool bar at the top; "Arrange" ...

Your best method is to just rehost them and reactivate them on the new system. If re-hosting isn't working for you, support can help. I have the best luck with the chat, but you should already know your serial number and product key. They can look it up for you, but that takes longer. ------------- ...

I am just going to add that Optix, starting with v1.6, struggles with large OPC UA datasets; my experience is the application hangs and eventually crashes. It was acknowledged by support and was supposed to be resolved in the v1.6 minor update back in July, there was improvement, but the issue still ...

welcome you are overthinking it, either path will work fine. I suggest backing up the project as v11 and keep that as a fall back. After that it does not matter what path you take, either way v16 will upgrade the project in the end. -------------------------------------------

so, all restarts are slow? We need more details on the computer itself that the model will not specifically tell us; the service tag would though. Need to know: CPU RAM capacity and operational usage Storage capacity and free space Most likely this is a Windows issue and not really a FactoryTalk ...

Quotes in the expression will just write the contents of quotes. You're not passing the value of the parameter; you are just writing #5 and #6 to the object. I also don't have much luck letting View Studio assume the condition of my expression, I find it is much better to define the expected argument ...

OPC related Optix crashes happen without any log or output. But that seems to be due to a resource overrun. Too much data pulled from the OPC UA server on the initial connection. but no, I agree, Optix seems to run so much lighter than any traditional RA software. Suppose I did get hung in the non-Optix ...

I think it is all very valid, especially when legacy support is factored in. As an OEM we still support v19 logix consistently and I still see v5 View Studio projects for upgrades. But, then as a company we are being forced to windows 11. The issue to retaining support, even to facilitate upgrades, is ...

Another angle worth considering is how CPU architecture impacts thread scheduling and bandwidth. AMD's recent Ryzen and EPYC processors tend to handle multi-threaded workloads more efficiently than Intel's hybrid-core designs, especially in VM-heavy environments. They also offer higher memory bandwidth ...
