Hi, I understood that Rockwell knowledge ID: QA48169 discussed this function already. which is to issue the ( ExecuteCommand "command string" ) command from a HMI client display (either with /ZA or not) However, what is the solution if an event needs to trigger an external application ( such as Notepad.exe) ...

Thanks, Doug, It works. Step 1: from Display Clients --> WorkStation --> Create a new Workstation Client ( Say Studio 5000 as my example below) Step 2: from Terminal --> Select "Studio" Workstation Client --> Enter the Workstation IP Address you have to make sure the Workstation RDP is allowed ...

Hi, I have followed the Thin Manager training manual. it seems all applications need to be installed on the RDS Server or have URL connections (like FT View Client, VantagePoint, etc). for a simple example, if the RA Studio 5000 was installed in EWS only ( instead of on the RDS Server), is it possible ...

Hi Kristopher, It is better to follow the Rockwell recommended architecture (enet-td001), which has been tested with Rockwell, CISCO and Panduit. normally, servers (DC, DHCP, DNS, HMI, VP, EWS) should be installed in the IDC on the OT side (Industrial zone). but the MES could be on the IT side. ...

Thanks, Lesley, the most valuable answer I got. BTW, if the network switches are in the DLR ring (not DLR trunking). will the CIP VLAN and Management VLAN need to combine as one single VLAN? I think it is the only way as the DLR ring only supports a single VLAN. ------------------------------ ...

Thanks, AN. I noted your comments, but Stratix 5700 has no issue with 1G speed. and certainly, 5400 is the best, but 5700 is supported as well. it must be some other differences to choose between REP and DLR Trunking. in my experience, REP is for the switch levels and DLR is the device level. however, ...

Hi, Network expert, It might be a dumb question to you, from page 42 of ENET-AT007D-EN-P.pdf. DLR can be configured as VLAN Trunking and the performance is better than REP ring. why choose REP? The DLR VLAN Trunking is good enough for most of industrial automation. If I have 1 PLC processor and ...

Hi Rafel, see screenshot below. I think it does not matter as long as the cable is Multi-mode. 1783-ETAP1F/2F supports both 62.5 and 50. ------------------------------ Kelvin ------------------------------

Recently, I have a discussion with other automation engineers and network engineers. they said that only one VLAN is allowed for each single REP segment. that surprises me. After read through RA textbook [enet-td005_-en-p (REP Design Guide)]. it seems true. Figures 3 to 6 on pages 6 & 7 all indicate ...

Thanks, I do read through the user manual. it has some kind of ambiguity whether the node counts are for each network port or the whole processor. I did a test and confirm the Node count is for the whole processor. see screenshot below. not sure whether the IAB PlantPax wizard will capture this warning ...

Hi everyone, I do understand there are a few RA technotes discussed this topic and the 1756-um543 user manual describes how to count the nodes. but I am still confused about the actual node number. take 1756-L84ES as an example, the Ethernet/IP nodes supported is 250. Does this 250 refer to the ...

let's say our customer has 20 identical production lines. it seems I uploaded the PLC program for Line 1, and download to Line 2 and save it. I am not able to go back to Line 1 online immediately. the only way back to Line 1 is via re-download the same program to Line 1. in this case, I have to maintain ...

Having been using FT View SE for many years, I realized that View ME has no such important security feature. when Panelview Plus starts, the "DEFAULT" user is logged in, there is no way you can change to other users, such as OPERATOR automatically. in SE, we can use a command " login OPERATOR Password ...
